“I tried. I tried to protect him. Basically I watched him getting attacked, but I couldn’t do nothing,” White recalls.
After spending two weeks in Milwaukee at Children’s Hospital, Jaikeem is finally home in Green Bay.
“He had like multiple staples in his head and stitches, and his ear was ripped out hanging by a piece of meat,” says White.
On April 13th, 2014, 93-year old Rita Pepe was attacked while on a walk by a recently adopted pit bull that charged out of its owner’s home. Bill Cronin, one of the several neighbors that came to her rescue, told WTNH.com that, “A large dog emanated from the back of the home, and we thought it was chasing a fire truck.” “Then it made an immediate right turn and took this elderly woman down like a wounded animal.”
SAN ANTONIO — For the second time this year, an elderly woman has died at University Hospital after a dog attack.
Petra Aguirre, 83, was attacked by a neighbor’s dog in her backyard on the West Side last month and died Friday evening at the hospital. She had bites all over her body, according to officials and her family.
He was outside playing and riding his bike when his bike chain fell off. He went in to tell his Daddy and he told him don’t go out of the yard they were about to leave around 4pm,then went back out to wait for it to get fixed on the porch. Suddenly an 80-100 lb, 8-month old, pit bull entered the yard and attacked him, unprovoked. The dog continued to bite, eat and drag little John all the way across the yard, over 20″ from the spot he first attacked. Bradley, John’s older brother, was horrified as he was riding his bike home from a friends house at that moment and saw what he thought was a dummy with red hair being dragged by a dog. He quickly realized it was his little brother and ran toward them, kicking at the dog, it raises up and growled then continued to drag John, it wouldn’t stop. Little John was still crying for help as Bradley ran inside to get their Daddy. He said he kicked the door in screaming, the kitchen stove fan was running so he had to kick the bedroom door in. He jumped from bed,Their Daddy ran out yelled and yelled which caused the dog to step back and prepare to charge him. As the dog stepped back, their Daddy was able to shoot the at the dog 16 rounds hitting him three times. One directly in the forehead grazing him cause he moved, one in the ear and one in the leg that finally caused him to drop long enough to grab John and put him in the truck. By that time he couldn’t speak but was still breathing and responding with his one eye he had left. 911 was called in by the owners dog saying the neighbor just shot his kid. They got little Johns body and put him in the car to rush to the hospital. Daddy had to hold what was left of his face on. Little John was still alive as Daddy and Bradley were talking to him, telling him to “Hold on Buddy”. They rushed him to the hospital and arrived before the first responders even arrived at the residence. The emergency medical team worked on saving Little John for 45 minutes as Bradley and daddy watched until they were forced out, when he coded and they had to shock him, into another room. His wounds were too severe and we lost our angel. He had over 50 puncture wounds to his head neck arms and what was left of his face. The attacking Pit Bull had been caged and no one even knew it existed in the neighborhood is what I was being told.
Klonda Richey, 57-years old, was brutally attacked, stripped naked and killed by her neighbors two dogs in front of her home. Her death was “very traumatic, and very painful,” according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. Dayton Police shot and killed both dogs on scene and reported the dogs were pit bulls.
SAN ANTONIO — Betty Clark was delivering Christmas presents to her Canyon Lake neighbors Dec. 21 when she was attacked by two dogs from the neighborhood.
The 75-year-old widow was found unresponsive, bites all over her body. She died about two weeks later at University Hospital, never having regained consciousness.
“She died because of those injuries,” said Dr. Natasha Keric, an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center who treated Clark. “She was walking around in her neighborhood, and then she got attacked.”
HOUSTON – Authorities have identified the woman Monday killed in a vicious mauling by a pack of pit bull dogs over the weekend in southeast Houston.
According to the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office, Christina Bell Burleson, 43, died after she and two more people were attacked early Sunday.
Her last known address was at the Servants of Christ United Methodist Church in southeast Houston. That’s because she and her husband are homeless.
Burleson had been a member of the parish for nearly ten years and volunteered for its Crossroads Outreach program for the homeless.
“Christine was a wonderful person. She loved animals. She loved people,” Will Reed, pastor, said. “Always spoke to everyone when she saw them. Here in the community everybody knew her. Well liked and well loved in this community.”

AMBRIDGE, Pa. —
The owner of a dog that attacked a woman and her own dog while jogging Wednesday in Ambridge has been arrested.
Police said Shannon Garveys was hospitalized after she was attacked by a dog while she was jogging on 14th Street in her Ambridge neighborhood with her dog, Sport.
“He jumped me (and) bit into my shoulder. I fell to the ground. He pulled me into the mulch,” she said.
Garveys spent Wednesday night in surgery. She said the dog bit down to her shoulder bone, tearing tendons and muscles.
“Thank God I carry a weapon. I had a knife and I just started stabbing him,” she said.
Garveys said she and her dog were both attacked, and the owner saw the attack and never helped.
“She looked at me and said, ‘You can’t do anything to me. You can sue. I have no money,’” Garveys said.
The dog’s owner, Jennifer Krummert, was arrested Friday. Ambridge police said she was known from previous incidents involving her dogs.
“I’m mortified by what happened,” Krummert told Channel 11 News.
She claims that she helped Garveys.
“Yes I did. Ask the cops. I’m the one who held the towel on her,” Krummert said.
However, police said that wasn’t the case.
“This was a vicious attack. We had to do something. She’s going to jail tonight and, unfortunately, were putting these dogs down,”
Krummert was on probation after the same dog attacked a man last year, according to police. The victim had to get on top of a car to get away from the dog.
Police said Krummert was supposed to keep her dogs muzzled and leashed if they were outside, but that didn’t happen.
CINCINNATI (CNN) — Officials in Cincinnati are investigating after two pit bulls ran into a Family Dollar store Sunday and cornered a woman with her two-month-old baby.
Callaway, FL – Tyler Jett, 7-years old, of Callaway has died. On April 2, Tyler was savagely attacked by two loose pit bull-mix dogs. Tyler was flown to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola where he remained in intensive care until his death. The boy suffered a punctured carotid artery and his head, face and neck were badly bitten. The dogs’ owner, Edward Daniels II, was charged with felony tampering of evidence after washing the blood off one of his dogs after the attack.
Just before the attack, Tyler was riding his bike after returning from school.3 Witnesses said the two dogs, which escaped from their owner’s fenced-in yard, had chased another neighborhood boy into Tyler’s yard before turning their attention on Tyler. The boy’s stepmother, Katy Phillips, Tyler’s father and a neighbor rushed to help him after hearing his screams. “Tyler did not provoke these dogs,” Phillips said. “These dogs (dragged) this 7-year-old across my front yard.”
Two dogs attacked a 67-year-old woman in Odessa while she was doing yard work. It was the help of a fast-acting neighbor that saved her life.
News West 9 reports that the incident occurred last week on the 700 block of South Lee. Juanita Rodriguez was mowing her lawn when two neighborhood dogs launched anattack on her.
Neighbor Louis Garza was outside when the commotion broke out. He said he initially thought nothing of it until he heard screaming.
“She was hysterical. She was panicking. She was holding her chin because it seemed like something was hanging. She was just gushing blood,” said Garza.
While the two dogs were attacking the woman, Garza jumped over his fence and successfully chased the pit bulls away by yelling and charging at them.
As for Rodriguez’s condition, she’s been in the hospital and is reportedly going through her second of many surgeries. The victim’s son, Sam Rodriguez, tells the news station that it’s going to be a “process” to get his mother healed after the mauling.
“It’s going to be a process. It’s not going to just be a one-time operation,” said Sam. “Today was the skin graft or the initial skin graft. She’s going to have to come back for some more.”
LELAND WOMAN FIGHTS OFF NEIGHBOR’S DOG ATTACKING CAT IN HER YARD
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — One Leland woman said she’s been scared to go out in her yard because of a neighbor’s pit bull. Tuesday, Mary Diemer said that pit bull attacked and killed one of her cats.
“I remember thinking, ‘Oh, my God. The cat’s dying, the cat’s dying. I can’t stop this. I can’t do anything,’” Diemer said. “The dog was just shaking the cat.”
She said she fought the dog off with a plastic gardening shovel, but her cat Lupe was already dead.
“I laid the cat down on the ground, and I could see her back legs. Her back was broken,” Diemer said.
She said she called for help, and Brunswick County Animal Control responded.
“I asked them why they couldn’t remove the dog,” Diemer said.”They said they can only issue a citation today.”
A Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson confirmed animal control issued the dog’s owners two citations: one for running at large and one for public nuisance. The spokesperson said the dog was not aggressive toward people, and the owner was cooperative.
Diemer said she’s called animal control before after seeing the pit bull jump the four-foot fence between yards.
Her neighbor Rick West said he has seen the dog jump his fence as well.
“He’s running over here, and it upsets my cats in the house, so I have to shoo him back,” West said. “It can’t be jumping fences and killing cats or other small animals. What’s it going to kill next? A small child?”
That is a concern Diemer, a grandparent of a six-year-old boy, has.
“I’m afraid for him to be out here in this yard by himself,” Diemer said.
The spokesperson said animal control officers are still investigating what happened. They said investigators have to determine if the dog is ‘dangerous’. If the dog is found to be dangerous and certain steps aren’t taken by the owners to keep the dog from any more dangerous encounters, authorities can petition the court for ownership of the dog. At that point it would be up to a judge to decide on what happens next.
The law in America no longer confines itself to its proper functions as it has become the chief weapon of injustice acting in direct opposition to its own purpose. As the French classical economist Frederic Bastiatnoted in his famous essay The Law, “It has been used to destroy its own objective. It has been applied to annihilating the justice that it was supposed to maintain; to limiting and destroying rights which its real purpose was to respect.” Bastiat continues, “The law has placed the collective force at the disposal of the unscrupulous who wish, without risk, to exploit the person, liberty, and property of others. It has converted plunder into a right, in order to protect plunder. And it has converted lawful defense into a crime, in order to punish lawful defense.”
Take for example the entire concept of “sanctuary cities” existing in over 300 cities…

We’re giving you one more chance before you’re banned from the page.
You’re obviously a fan of pit bulls. Whether it’s because you’ve been brainwashed by ANY part of the $60 billion dollar per year pet care and supply industry into thinking these dogs were anything BUT purposely bred by human beings for centuries FOR the purpose of dogfighting, or you’re just going to give us more anecdotal evidence because “my pit bull is sweet and I’ve only had good experiences with them,” you choose to defend the one breed type that kills, maims and mauls more humans and animals than all dog breed types combined. The admins of this page have also had good experiences with pit bulls, until the day we did not.
I agree with you that most of the victims of pit bull attacks, their families and supporters were “ignorant” and truly “uneducated” about the history, heritage and PURPOSE of pit bull type dogs. However, there is a difference between being “ignorant” and “willfully ignorant.” Most of the supporters of BSL were ill-informed by this “pit bull propaganda machine” into believing these dogs are safe family pets if just “raised right.” Most of the supporters of BSL were ill-informed by this propaganda machine into thinking pit bulls are “just like any other dogs.” They were indeed, “ignorant” and “uneducated.”
Which brings this back to you.
You have just commented on one of our pages created by formerly “ignorant” and “uneducated” victims, their families, friends, supporters and former pit bull owners LIKE YOURSELF. We have created these pages in an attempt to spare other families and friends of the pain and suffering we have had to endure by giving you HONEST information. Not DISHONEST information from the countless organizations and TV shows whom are OWNED, CONTROLLED, or FUNDED by dog breeders, owners, veterinarian or animal welfare groups that have a vested interest in keeping the status of pit bulls unregulated, but HONEST information from people that have nothing to gain from this position. We also understand that in sharing this HONEST information about pit bulls, we will be attacked and ridiculed by the “ignorant” defenders of this breed type like you. It is not the “ignorant,” but “willfully ignorant” that is the reason these types of dogs will continue to destroy families for many years to come. Stay with me here.
We believe in giving someone the chance to absorb this HONEST information in an ocean of DISHONEST information about pit bulls on the internet and TV, which is why we will give you ONE more comment before we ban you from this page. Frankly, we don’t have time to waste on the “willfully ignorant” anymore. There are plenty of fence sitters out there that are willing to at least READ the information we’re providing.
You get ONE more comment. If you say ANY of the following in that comment, you’re banned from the page:
-“According to the NCRC, AVMA, UKC, AKC, etc….” (or any info copied and pasted from part of the $60 billion dollar per year pet care and supply industry)
-“What did they do to provoke it?”
Acceptable comments will be:
-“Wow, I didn’t know that.”
-“I had no idea it was so bad.”
-“I will take extra precaution with my fighting breed from now on, especially around children.”
-“I will look into a break stick and how to use it.”
-“I’m so sorry for your loss.” (no BUT’S)
“We thought he was going to be a great dog. He acted like one. He was a good example of a good pit. Until he just decided to attack. He slept in our bed and everything. We never left the kids alone with him. They were never mean to him. We had 5 other dogs including another female pit and they never fought.
It’s NOT the way they are raised. Our dog was well loved and raised. He obeyed all commands and never showed any aggression. These myths almost cost my sons life. How many more people have to get hurt because of a lie?”
“The backdoor was open and suddenly we heard people screaming from outside. Bexar, with zero warning, had lunged at Gavin, and his jaws were clamped down on Gavin’s face, right in front of everyone. Let me point out that there were 8 people within arms reach of Gavin when Bexar attacked. This is a critical point, because I have heard from many people about this, who say that they would never leave their children “alone” with “any” dog. Gavin was far from being alone when this attack happened. Even 4 grown men were unable to pry Bexar’s jaws off of Gavin’s head. Greg ran out and was finally able to get Bexar to release, saving Gavin’s life.”
“My brother had raised many pit bulls and one particularly captured our hearts…He was the sweetest well mannered gentle dog I had ever seen…I was always told the aggressive ones were because they were trained to fight and it was all in how they were raised….and if u got them from puppies that was the best way to raise any dog…Both of the dogs who attacked were brought home as puppies and picked out by Kara…These dogs never displayed any people aggression. ..Always sat dutifully by her side, watched her have tea parties, sat by her side when she was sick, thought they were lap dogs and liked to snuggle…..no warnings, no snapping, nogrowling…….just snapped!”
“Children are blessings from God. Dogs are animals, I understand peoples love for animals and a lot of people choose or may not be able to have children so have these dogs and treat them as their own kids. They will always be animals, not children. For those who choose the dangerous breeds please stop and think, is it worth taking the chance on it turning and killing our children and family members?”
“Our son was brutally killed by our pet pit bull of 8 years…On April 24, 2013 we lost both our beautiful son Beau and our family dog, affectionately known as Kissy Face. Our dog had been part of our family for 8 years and lived up to her name, for she was eager to overload everyone with kisses. Oh, she was such a very loving and family oriented dog. Kissy Face had been around since her birth on November 22, 2005.
Then with no warning, matters changed dramatically and our world was irrevocably altered. Shortly after Beau’s 2nd birthday, I made a quick trip to the restroom. Just a few minutes later I returned to find my son lying in a pool of his own blood.”
“Her right shoulder was dislocated in a backward fashion, half her right face was missing, as well as part of her right neck, and most of her right ear. My mother had bite marks all over her face, neck, and scalp. Her vocal box was ripped, that’s why my niece only heard one yell. Her C1 & C2 were fractured; part of her spinal cord was ripped from her lifeless body. She fought and fought. She suffered from a horrific, sustained, vicious and violent attack at the jaws of a completely unpredictable breed of dog. My mother’s autopsy report shows her wounds to be consistent with defending her grandchild. The report states that my mother was defending her grandchild. My mother is a hero. She saved my nephew’s life.”

American Pit Bull Terrier
The American Pit Bull Terrier is, like all the ‘bully’ breeds, one of this group of descendants of the British ‘bull and terrier’ type fighting bulldogs. Once imported into the United States, it was bred up to be bigger again, and again used in baiting animals and in dogfighting. The American Kennel Club (founded 1884) was unwilling to register these fighting dogs, so in 1898 the United Kennel Club was founded specifically to register working pit-fighting dogs and to promote dogfighting. In order to be registered, a dog had to first win three pit fights. The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) became a ‘breed’. As dogfighting declined in popularity in the 1930s and 1940s, Colby (the most famous and prolific breeder of these dogs) began to search for a new market and began promoting the APBT as family pets. This despite the fact that his breeding lines included child killers.

Identifying a Pit Bull Hack
Does it “reset” the debate back to the 1980s or 90s?
Does it use a red herring or “For or Against” title?
Does it fail to contain any useful new information?
Does it invent or perpetuate a “fake” controversy?
Does it sink to include Petey or the Nanny Dog myth?
Is it from a Pit Bull Hack source? (a writer or entity)
Is it blatantly biased or perpetuating misinformation?
A “Pit Bull Hack” is generally a pit bull protectionist given a media platform to spread misinformation to the public. A Pit Bull Hack can also be a lazy journalist who reuses circular or red herring arguments (“Are Pit Bulls Dangerous?”) that have been around for three decades. A Pit Bull Hack can be a “pet writer” too or dog lover journalist sympathetic to pit bulls, sometimes recklessly so. The term “Hack” usually involves deliberately using polarizing language to “generate” page views or social media shares while knowing the piece does not contribute to reducing the number of maulings and deaths routinely inflicted by pit bulls. A Pit Bull Hack can also refer to an entire news group, such as the Toledo Blade and Huffington Post, who indisputably advocate for pit bulls and promote false myths about them. All in all, a Pit Bull…

Excellent blog post.

It seems as if the “anonymous” writers behind the unpopular and pro Pit Bull blog Zombies and Dogs seem a little bit bitter. Of course, they are always a bit bitter when it comes to ANY negative press that “pit bull type” dogs seem to receive and the Ulster county Sheriff’s K9 training program has seemed to ruffle their bitter feathers.
“On Friday, that was the case at SUNY Ulster as the college hosted a K9 graduation featuring top dogs Maverick, a Chocolate Lab; Kiah, a Pit Bull; and Farrell, a German Shepard, named after Sgt. Shawn M. Farrell II, who was killed in action on April 28, 2014 while serving in the U.S. Army’s 10th mountain division in Afghanistan. “-Paula Mitchell, Hudson Valley News Network
